Bruce Springsteen took to the socials yesterday to announce his spring tour, a response to the ever-frightening state of our democracy and human rights here in the U.S. As he stated, “We are living through dark, disturbing, and dangerous times, but do not despair, the cavalry is coming.” And not a moment too soon.
On the heels of his protest ballad “Streets of Minneapolis”, the Boss let us know in no uncertain terms the theme of this tour as it kicks off in, where else, Minneapolis. Not only does this tour feel necessary in its (likely) content as both a portrait of and a salve for the turmoil many of us are feeling, but the daily onslaught of emotional and mental strife necessitates a demonstration of joy as an act of resistance that only a 3-hour Springsteen show can provide.
The dissenters will not be silenced, and we’re going to have a damn good time acting out. Because, as someone once sang, “when they said sit down, I stood up.” So, we’ll be standing up, letting our voices be heard, and shaking our fists in quintessential Boss fashion.
That’s all for now. We’ll be seeing you.
